DA demands report on drinking water quality

This follows after residents were urged to boil water following contamination of drinking water.

EMFULENI. – The Democratic Alliance in the Emfuleni Central Constituency has formally requested the Emfuleni Municipality Water Department (Metsi-a-Lekoa) to provide comprehensive reports on drinking water quality, with a specific focus on areas where contamination has been identified.

According to Dady Mollo, the Democratic Alliance’s shadow MMC for public works and the party’s political head in Emfuleni Central, the DA have also urged for additional testing to be conducted in surrounding areas to assess potential contamination risks, with detailed results promptly shared with the public to maintain transparency and accountability.

Furthermore, we are seeking information on the measures in place to support local schools and clinics located in the contaminated areas, highlighting the importance of these institutions having access to safe drinking water to protect the health and well-being of students, staff, and patients,” Mollo said.

Overall, as the Democratic Alliance Emfuleni Central constituency we are demonstrating our commitment to advocating for the health and safety of community members. We believe that transparency in drinking water quality reporting is crucial for ensuring the well-being of all residents,” Mollo concluded.
