Stamp collection exhibition in Sasolburg

SASOLBURG - The Sasolburg Philatelic Society, also known as Oilfilat, is gearing up for its annual exhibition at the Sasolburg Public Library from October 28 to November 1.

This year’s event promises to be a fascinating journey through the world of philately, with a focus on thematic collecting and the rich stories stamps can tell.

Philately, or stamp collecting, is more than simply collecting postage stamps of a country. Thematic collecting has become extremely popular. Stamps are used to tell a story.

Among the exhibits are frames illustrating the life cycle of bees, a study of the Bateleur, the 2024 bird of the year, and Our Green Inheritance. All are welcome especially school groups.

Members of the Society will be available to assist with any queries about the display or people seeking information about their collections.

For junior visitors there will be a gift of stamps should they want to start or expand their collections.

For queries contact Mr J. van Wyk at 082 447 3099 or Leon Jacobson at 083 389 8647.
