Wish-Upon-A-Star Campaign brings joy despite challenges
Lusa Community Chest extends heartfelt gratitude to the remarkable partners who made this year’s project a success
Lusa Community Chest’s Wish-Upon-A-Star 2024 has taken a heartwarming turn amidst economic struggles, prioritizing nourishment over traditional Christmas gifts for vulnerable children. This year, 400 children from 20 Non-Profit Organisations received food parcels and well-maintained toys, ensuring full tummies and festive smiles during these trying times.
For the past 20 years, the initiative has aimed to make children feel worthy and special through Christmas gifts. However, with many children’s homes not receiving their usual government funding since January, the dire need for food became a top priority.
“Thanks to the generosity of loyal community partners, the campaign adapted to support these children by providing essential nourishment and festive cheer,” says Veronica Cronje, Lusa’s Director.
Ms Retha Jacobs, coordinator of the annual Wish-Upon-A-Star project, says Lusa Community Chest extends heartfelt gratitude to the remarkable partners who made this year’s project a success: Safripol, Autumn Star Trading 132, Mission Point Trading 41, Emerald Resort and Casino, Vaal Milling, ArcelorMittal, Alta Pretorius, Boots & Hats, IFM 102.2, MooiVaal Media, BSI Steel, President Hyper, Centurion Motorbike Club, North School Primary, Online Analytics, Fruit & Veggie City, and the Roux Family.
“Through their unwavering support, the campaign not only met its goal but reminded the community of the power of coming together during tough times. Together, we ensured that 400 children have food to eat and can share in the joy this festive season,” says Retha.
“Thank you for being the pillars of this meaningful cause. Your contributions are the true stars of this year’s Wish-Upon-A-Star Food Campaign!”
