When a teacher thinks out of the box, the learners will follow suit.

VANDERBIJLPARK – Business studies tend to be a serious and rather difficult subject. Fortunately, the Grade 11s of Curro Vanderbijlpark have Motshedisi Ramakarane as their educator.

Taking on the red carpet with self-confindence and his own style.

Motshedisi does things outside the box and inspires her learners to do the same.

As part of their latest business studies project, the learners had to make clothes on a tight budget using recycled materials or upcycling items they already had.

On Monday, they had the opportunity to showcase their creations in front of the school during the opening ceremony.

The groom and bride had the whole school on their feet cheeriing.

The learners walked and posed like professionals on the stage and down the red carpet. Their fellow schoolmates were excited, and even the educators were impressed.

Fancy dress made from old newspapers.

Creations included a tracksuit made from shopping bags, a formal groom’s outfit designed with black plastic bags, and two evening dresses made entirely of old newspapers. As Motshedisi said afterwards: “They blew my socks off.”
