Rhino set for third European call-up

When opportunity knocks be prepared

VANDERBIJLPARK – There was a moment of pure delight this week for South African one-armed golf star Reinard “Rhino” Schuhknecht when the call came through: he had once again been selected to represent Team Europe at the prestigious Fightmaster Cup in Ireland.

Often described as the Ryder Cup of one-armed golf, the event will tee off from 17 to 19 September at Roganstown Golf Club and it will be Rhino’s third time carrying the European colours on the international stage.

Schuhknecht’s story is well-known in golf circles. After a life-changing accident at the age of 14 in which he lost his right arm, he taught himself to play the game left-handed. What started as rehabilitation soon turned into a remarkable career.

Over the years he has carved out a reputation as one of the most formidable players in one-armed golf, with multiple international titles to his name, including world Match-Play and Long-Drive crowns in Ireland.

Now, with his latest selection, Rhino adds another proud chapter to a journey that has inspired many both on and off the fairways. From local courses in Vanderbijlpark to the biggest stages in Europe, his determination and fearless approach to the game continue to set him apart. This September, he’ll once again be battling it out among the best, as Team Europe fights to bring the Cup home.
