Archery Club aims for bulls-eye in Vaal
The ancient sport of archery is gaining momentum in the Vaal.
VEREENIGING – The Single Arrow Archery Club opened its doors in September 2023, promoting the sport under the banner of African Genesis Archery (AGA-SA), which has been operating in South Africa since 2008.
Head Coach Francois Robbertze is enthusiastically promoting the club and actively seeking new students to join the ranks.
He is a registered (Basic Archery Instructor Trainer) BAIT under AGA-SA, giving him comprehensive credentials.
“I can train and instruct students in archery and can also train someone to become a BAIT instructor,” says Robbertze. “I am also a range official at competitions and tournaments and do repairs to AGA-SA archery equipment, including bows and arrows.”

The Single Arrow Archery Club provides an indoor training facility located on Lucas Avenue in Risiville.
Current training sessions are held twice weekly: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 16:00 to 17:30.
Archery is a unique sport where the entire family can participate together and is enjoyed year-round with weekly club competitions.
Competitive archers can try out for provincial team selection to compete in the annual national tournament. Success at the national level offers a chance to be selected for one of the national teams.
The yearly National Schools and Club Championship sees clubs and schools from across the country vying for top honours.
Robbertze and the club are optimistic about the future. “We are looking forward to growing the club’s membership in the new year,” he adds. “We invite anyone interested to find out more about archery to contact us”.
Follow the club on Facebook or Instagram and join them for one of their open days during November and December.
