Wholesale Meat turns 5 with community celebration and radio launch

Wholesale Meat will mark five years on Saturday with free boerewors, live beats, and the launch of a new radio station for the community.

MEYERTON. – Wholesale Meat will celebrate its fifth anniversary on March 28 with a full-day community event that includes the launch of a new local radio station, live entertainment, and in-store promotions.

The event is scheduled to run from 08:00 to 15:00 at the retailer’s Meyerton premises and will coincide with the official launch of WM Radio, a vernacular, community focused station broadcasting directly from the store.

Midvaal Local Municipality Mayor Alderman Peter Teixeira is expected to attend and officially cut the ribbon to open the new station.

The initiative aims to serve the customers can grab free boerewors rolls. surrounding area by broadcasting in local languages and providing a platform for home-grown talent.

A line-up of local performers is set to provide live entertainment throughout the day. Artists expected to perform include Calvin Jesster, Gupta Mabesa, MLK, EL-P, DJ Beatz Blaze, Kxngrodger, Daddy D, Able Gee, and Serame Sediti, with additional performers still to be announced.

MLK, a Midvaal Community Radio presenter who has previously received national recognition through a nomination at the Mzansi Arts & Media Awards, is set to play a key role in the new station.

Families can enjoy face painting and mascot appearances, while There will also be various giveaways and prizes supported by partners such as Karan Beef, Crown National, Freddy Hirsch, Superb, Big Nuts, Sauce It, Monate Meats, Jorbo Foods, Shati’s Himalayan Salt, Magogo Atchar, and HM Foods.

In addition to the entertainment, customers can expect a range of promotional offers, with the retailer indicating that some of its lowest prices to date will be available through advertised and in-store specials.

Members of the public and media will have the opportunity to attend and interact with organisers and participants and enjoy the local talent on display.
