Grief did not break this young mother
Within just six months, the 30-year-old lost her brother, her grandfather, and her husband.
VANDERBIJLPARK – For Samantha de Villiers, 2025 was a year defined by the unthinkable.
It was a period of profound grief that could have easily broken her; instead, it forged a strength she didn’t know she possessed.
“That experience changed me deeply,” Sam reflects. “In those moments, I realised my journey isn’t just about personal success, it’s about making a meaningful impact on the people around me.”
Now serving as the Business Development & Sales Manager at Harcourts Vaal, Sam has channeled that sense of purpose into the Harcourts Community Drive Project.
The initiative was born from a simple observation: a gap between the business world and the real-world struggles of local families.
“The turning point was interacting with people who showed us how even the smallest contribution could change a life,” she says.
“It made it clear that our responsibility extends far beyond property transactions.”
This shift in perspective has fundamentally altered Sam’s definition of ‘success.’
Where she once measured growth by deals closed and commissions earned, she now looks toward consistency, integrity, and the legacy she leaves behind.

Much of her success as a young businesswoman is a tribute to her late husband, who passed away suddenly in November 2025.
“He constantly pushed me beyond my perceived limits,” she shares. “His belief in me shaped my confidence and how I approach every challenge.”
As a mother of two young sons, Sam is now living out the lessons of the past year. She wants her children to see a woman who is both a fierce professional and a present, loving parent – a living testament to the fact that resilience and ambition can coexist.
If she could go back in time, her advice to her younger self would be simple:
“Don’t limit yourself based on fear. Trust the process, and appreciate the people around you. Time moves faster than you think, and the connections you build are just as important as the goals you achieve.”
