IN PICS: Exhibition Centre needs improvements
The place offers little educational or historical value.
SHARPEVILLE. – The Sharpeville Exhibition Centre needs urgent management attention if it is to measure up to its national competitors.

Being one of the oldest townships in the country, with a rich history, the story of Sharpeville has been allowed to deteriorate at the Sharpeville Exhibition Centre.

Within the Centre, there is a striking absence of meaningful exhibits that portray Sharpeville’s rich history.

Aside from two, old and crumpled bicycles and a handful of pictures featuring the victims of the Sharpeville Massacre, the place offers little educational or historical value. Numerous community members including the elderly and artists, have expressed their discontent at being sidelined from active participation in the centre.
The future of the Sharpeville Exhibition Centre hangs in the balance, as it needs rightful custodians of its history to be given a chance to tell their own story, in their own way.
