EFF concerned by the lack parks
Khithika stressed the significance of green spaces for community wellbeing.
SEDIBENG. – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Sedibeng have expressed concern about the lack of will to revive parks in the area.
The party argues that parks are beneficial to communities because they provide a safe space for community members to gather and enjoy nature and that children can play under their parents’ watchful eyes, and community members can improve their health using park equipment, all within a relaxing environment.
“They also bring about positive economic benefits, such as enhancing property values, increasing municipal revenue, attracting home-buyers and workers.
When located near residential areas, parks have been shown to create neighbourhoods with fewer violent and property crimes, fostering a sense of support and protection among neighbours,” said EFF Sedibeng Chairperson, Isaac Khithika.
He stressed the significance of green spaces for community wellbeing.
However, many parks in Emfuleni have become illegal dumping sites.
“We urge the Emfuleni ANC led municipality to prioritize park restoration,” he concluded.
