BOIPATONG – Boipatong Victim Friendly Room, in collaboration with Indibano Victim Empowerment, Crime Prevention Wardens, and members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), came together to celebrate the remarkable dedication and compassion of Gogo Nuku Mvundle.

Nuku Mvundle, the founder of Madick Children’s Home, operates an orphanage out of her own home, providing a safe and loving environment for five orphaned children.

She is a beloved and respected figure in the Boipatong community, known for her unwavering commitment to caring for orphaned children who have nowhere else to turn.

The event, held on Saturday, September 16, was marked by various activities, including community cleaning efforts, food parcel donations, and a mini celebration to honour Gogo Nuku’s exceptional work.

Her selfless dedication to these vulnerable young lives has not gone unnoticed, and both the EFF and local police wanted to express their gratitude for her tireless efforts.

Addressing the gathered crowd, VFF Coordinator Constable Ntuthu stated: “The purpose of this event is to express our gratitude towards Mama for making our jobs easier by opening her doors to care for some of these children when we bring them to her. Her unwavering support is greatly appreciated.”

Ntuthu also highlighted that Gogo Nuku provides a safe haven for children who arrive at their station due to gender-based cases and need accommodation at Madick Children’s Home.

Isaac Khithita of the EFF added: “We want to thank Gogo Nuku for the outstanding work she does. We felt it was important to come and show our support today because we are an integral part of the community. We want to demonstrate our support for all the positive contributions made by the community.”

The visibly overjoyed Gogo Nuku Mvundle expressed her happiness, saying: “I have been caring for different children for over five years now. Many are brought here by social workers, some by their mothers, and others are found abandoned.

Currently, I am living with five children. I am very grateful for this gesture of appreciation.”
