The walls of her office stand adorned with a remarkable collection of over 200 trophies, certificates, and accolades that bear testimony to the exceptional career of this distinguished educator. Chabela’s remarkable journey is reflected in a plethora of achievements, from steering her school to being recognised as the best-run institution to securing personal accolades as the province’s finest principal. Her office, resembling a trophy emporium, vividly showcases a multitude of accomplishments that speak volumes of her extraordinary career.

In an exclusive interview, Chabela shared her inspiring story, shedding light on her illustrious career and her unwavering dedication to education.

Recounting her early days at Sefikeng College of Education, she described how her leadership potential was evident, leading her to become an influential figure in the educational realm.

Her teaching odyssey commenced at Bolata Primary School in Qwaqwa, taking a route unexpected from her initial aspiration of studying medicine.

Despite this detour, Chabela found her calling in education, a vocation she now holds in high regard.

Reflecting on her early tenure as a principal, Chabela reminisced about her initial recognition, which marked the beginning of her journey towards excellence. She recounted experiences attending conferences and international events, including the SAPA National Conference and an international conference in Canada, where she absorbed valuable insights from globally renowned educational systems.

Chabela’s commitment to excellence extended to her school, where her students consistently achieved top positions in various competitions.

Notably, the school excelled in securing bursary positions in the Sasol competition, a success accompanied by some challenges and accusations.
