Reports said that Ward Councilor, Thandi Khoza and concerned community members had been repeatedly informing Eskom about the hazardous cable over the past two months.

EVATON.- The death of a young man who came into contact with a low-hanging electrical cable in Small Farms, Evaton, last Thursday is being investigated by authorities.
It is reported that the young man accidentally touched the live electrical cable with his grass-cutting machine. Reports said that Ward Councilor, Thandi Khoza and concerned community members had been repeatedly informing Eskom about the hazardous cable over the past two months.
Despite assurances and a visit from Eskom officials, no action was apparently taken.
The incident occurred while the young man was with his friend, resulting in fatal injuries. Police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi stated that at around 19:00 last Thursday, Evaton police received a call about a scene on Boundary Road, Small Farm. Upon arrival, they found a man lying under the electricity poles of Eskom.
“On top of the poles, there was a hanging wire from the transformer, and the deceased’s body was found facing upwards.
According to the witness, the deceased was carrying his bush cutter on his back, and it accidentally touched an electric cable hanging from the transformer. The witness saw a light from the transformer to the deceased, and the deceased received an electric shock all over his body,” Msibi explained. Paramedics certified the deceased as dead on the scene, and an inquest was opened by the Evaton Police to investigate the circumstances of the tragic incident.
