Concealment of birth investigated in Sonderwater

The foetus was declared dead by emergency medical services, and the body was taken to Forensic Pathology Services for further investigation. 

SEBOKENG. – A case of concealment of birth is being investigated after a foetus was found in Sonderwater recently.

Sebokeng police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said that police were called by community members about the discovery at a bridge.

“Upon arrival, police found a foetus lying in the water next to a burst sewage pipe, still attached to the umbilical cord and the placenta,” Mokhachane explained.

The foetus was declared dead by emergency medical services, and the body was taken to Forensic Pathology Services for further investigation. The police urge community members to assist them with any information about a person who was pregnant in the surrounding areas but is no longer pregnant, and if they know of someone who was pregnant and has recently visited the area.
