SEDIBENG – Thousands of litres of alcohol went down the drain as police in Sedibeng disposed of confiscated alcohol at the Leeuwkuil Waste Water Treatment Works in Vereeniging.
The disposal carried out on May 23 was led by the Sedibeng District acting commissioner, Brigadier Sibongile Ndaba, who, during her keynote delivery, highlighted the collaborative efforts of law enforcement working together with key stakeholders in dealing with illegal liquor operations.
Confiscated liquor disposal is important because it helps reduce crime and ensures compliance with regulations. Removal of illicit alcohol from circulation enables law enforcement agencies to deter further illegal activities and mitigate the risks associated with alcohol abuse.
“Today is about showcasing the tireless work of our law enforcement officers. The liquor being disposed of was confiscated during coordinated operations conducted across the Sedibeng area,” Ndaba said.
Ndaba further emphasised that the disposal operation forms part of SAPS’s ongoing efforts, in partnership with local stakeholders, to ensure compliance with liquor regulations and promote public safety in the Sedibeng District.
