Air Quality Priority Areas Summit in Vanderbijlpark
The Vaal Triangle is one of the three areas declared as national priority areas in terms of section 18(1) of the National Environmental Management Act.
VANDERBIJLPARK – Over the next few days, the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment (DFFE) will host the 2025 Air Quality Priority Areas Summit in Vanderbijlpark.
The summit aims to bring together air quality officials from all spheres of government to provide coordination and cooperation with respect to air quality management in priority areas.
Proceedings include the launch of the Low-Cost Air Quality Monitoring Sensor Network Project at Kgomoco Primary School in Sharpeville.
The low-cost air quality monitoring sensors are a new technology to provide air quality information to communities.
Yesterday, DFFE Chief Director for Air Quality Management and National Air Quality Officer Dr Patience Gwaze delivered a presentation on the current state of air in the three priority areas and requirements for implementing the updated Air Quality Management Plan.
