October is newspaper and journalists month

“Archiving these newspaper clips is a commitment that I have taken to show an appreciation towards the journalists that took their time and passion to report about the arts activities."

VEREENIGING.- An exhibition of newspaper clips of arts activities by Diniso Kasi Arts will be held at the Diniso Arts Complex in Bedworthpark this month.
Iga-Makhulu Diniso said that Diniso Kasi Arts is paying tribute to MooiVaal Media and saluting journalists, both past and present.
The newspaper clips exhibition will be on from October 4 until October 31, with the official opening on October 19 at 12:00.
A talk, Press Media versus Social Media, will be held on October 25.
Diniso said that the exhibition will showcase all the newspaper clips from MooiVaal Media that have been archived.
“Archiving these newspaper clips is a commitment that I have taken to show appreciation towards the journalists who took their time and passion to report on arts activities,” said Diniso.
Meanwhile, the Diniso Kasi Arts will also be observing October 19, 1977.
“This is in commemoration of the clamping down of the black newspapers, The World and The Weekend World, when journalists and their editor, for both newspapers, Percy Qoboza, were detained.”
In 2010, Diniso had his first newspaper clip exhibition called ‘Hang on Diniso’ in the Boduto Art Gallery at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT).
In that year, the government was calling for a media tribunal, and Diniso was paying tribute to the media at large.
“MooiVaal Media (Vaalweekblad, Vaal Weekly, Vaal Vision, Sebokeng Vision and Vaal Ster) journalists Susan Ciliers, Makhosazana Zwane, Charles Dimema, Lloyd Marlowe, Sonia Cronje, Morapedi Nkali, Bushy Kgalema, Peter Mabuye, Gilbert Litsie, Hardu Lourens, Hannetjie Schreck, Emily Lempe, Mpho Mosikidi, Jabulani Maphalala, Annette Willemse, Jane Gqozo, Mduduzi Mathebula, Sonqoba Kunene, Lazarus Dithakgiso, Khutsahalo Matlhare, Dorah Mphasane, Moleboheng Chaha, Zacharia Nale and Lerato Serero were and still are, dedicated to report on local news,” Diniso said.
He added that on weekends throughout the exhibition, during the day and in the evening, there is going to be a The Room music concert by TRUTH (Iva-Nyaniso Diniso), inspired by The Tiny Desk music concert.
Instrumentalist musicians are called to showcase their talents and potential. Diniso Kasi Arts is open Monday to Sunday and operates Tuesdays to Sundays. It is involved in stage plays, music shows, poetry recitals, and storytelling in line with tourism. Diniso Kasi Arts is extending an invitation to emerging journalists or those who are interested in journalism, as well as young people who are interested in
tourism, to come to Diniso Arts Complex on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10:00 and 15:00 for a plenary engagement based on initiating a weekend Art Market in line with The Vaal River Mega City.
