The accused was recently sentenced to 14 years for murder, eight years for rape, and six months for assault.

SEBOKENG.- A 28-year-old man was sentenced to 22 years’ direct imprisonment by the Sebokeng Magistrate’s Court.
It is said that on October 18, 2023, at about 01:00, the accused from Avondale Road in Evaton, forcefully took a 17-year-old girl from a tavern in Adam’s Road to his aunt’s place, where he raped her. The accused’s aunt is said to have arrived, finding the girl and the accused in her home, where the girl was crying. Police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi, said that the aunt tried to reprimand the accused, but he became angry and took out a knife and stabbed the aunt behind the shoulder.
“His uncle also tried to intervene, and the accused stabbed him on the left side of the chest. He was declared dead on the scene.
The accused then forced the girl to go to his stepfather’s house where he raped her the whole night until the police arrived in the morning and arrested him.”

The accused was recently sentenced to 14 years for murder, eight years for rape, and six months for assault. Evaton investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Seepe, worked tirelessly to ensure that enough evidence was presented and the perpetrator was brought to justice.
“This conviction is a reminder that crime will not go unpunished. We urge the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement and reporting crime, providing information, as community partnership is essential for safer communities,” Msibi ended.
