Half of Comrades 2026 entries sell out within hours

Comrades fever is back! More than 11,000 runners grabbed their spot in the 2026 Up Run within hours — and fewer than half the entries remain.

PIETERMARITZBURG – It took just a few hours for half of the available entries for the 2026 Comrades Marathon to be snapped up on Monday.

The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) says more than 11,000 runners have already secured their place in next year’s Up Run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg — leaving fewer than 11,000 of the 22,000 spots still open.

Entries are selling faster than ever before

General entries opened at 10:00 on Monday, November 3, following an early entry window for Green Number Club members and CMA affiliates, who claimed over 2,600 places in advance.

Entry fees are R1,200 for South Africans, R2,000 for other African runners, and R4,500 for internationals. Runners can pay in full or split the amount into two instalments, with the balance due by the end of February 2026.

The CMA has also extended its Runners’ Relief Fund, which offers up to 50% off for 1,500 disadvantaged athletes.

Organisers have urged runners not to wait:

“Entries are selling faster than ever before,” the CMA said.
