Gauteng urges parents to support matric learners ahead of results
With emotions running high as results day approaches, parents are being reminded that reassurance and understanding can make a critical difference for matric learners.
GAUTENG – As matric learners anxiously await the release of their results, the Gauteng Department of Community Safety has urged parents to provide emotional support and create a safe, pressure-free environment at home.
In a post shared on the department’s Facebook page, parents were encouraged to closely monitor their children’s moods and to be alert to signs of depression, warning that early intervention could prevent harm. The department also cautioned against placing additional pressure on learners during an already stressful period.
An accompanying poster advises parents to support their children’s future plans, help them explore alternative study and career options if needed, and reassure them that a successful career remains possible regardless of matric outcomes.
