Shoplifting suspect caught at Woolworths

A suspected shoplifter was caught at the Woolworths in Meyerton.

MEYERTON – A suspected shoplifter was caught following a swift response at Woolworths in Riverstone Mall.

The incident drew praise from Midvaal Local Municipality Ward 13 councillor Gerrit Viljoen.

Viljoen shared a post on social media commending local crime prevention groups for their quick action, reiterating a zero-tolerance approach to crime in the area.

The incident took place at Riverstone Mall, which currently houses the only Woolworths store in Meyerton.

A photograph shared online shows items believed to be linked to the incident, including several packets of smoked viennas as well as pies from the store’s bakery section.

No further details regarding arrests or charges have been released at this stage.

Community safety structures continue to encourage cooperation between businesses, residents and security services to curb retail crime.
