Vaal Mall helps local learners with stationery support and book-wrapping initiative

Vaal Mall has teamed up with local partners to make the Back to School season easier for families, delivering stationery packs to learners in need and offering book-wrapping stations to raise funds for the community.

VANDERBIJLPARK – Vaal Mall has extended support to local learners through its 2026 Stationery Support and Book Wrapping initiative, aimed at easing the financial burden on families during the Back to School period.

The initiative, implemented in partnership with PNA Vaal Mall and the Vereeniging Lions Club, saw 100 complete stationery packs distributed to underprivileged learners from several schools in the area.

PNA Vaal Mall donated the stationery items for the packs, while the Vereeniging Lions Club assisted by identifying learners in need and producing custom-made pencil cases. The stationery packs were delivered directly to the selected schools by representatives from the Lions Club and Vaal Mall to ensure the support reached learners most in need.

In addition to the stationery drive, Vaal Mall is hosting book-wrapping stations as part of its Back to School activities. The stations will operate from 14 to 23 January 2026 in the PNA and Game mall courts, where shoppers can have school books wrapped in exchange for a donation. All proceeds will go to the Vereeniging Lions Club.

Vaal Mall has supplied the wrapping materials, including paper and related items, and has provided the space, tables and operational support to facilitate the service.

“Back to School is an important and often challenging time for many families,” said Shana Maree-Paraskevopoulos, General Manager of Vaal Mall. “Through partnerships with trusted community organisations and tenants, we are able to make a tangible difference in the lives of local learners.”

Vaal Mall has thanked PNA Vaal Mall, the Vereeniging Lions Club and members of the community for their support, saying the initiative helps ensure local children start the school year prepared and confident.
