Another motion of no confidence against Sedibeng mayor

The motion, submitted this week by the PAC, places renewed political pressure on the district’s executive leadership.

VEREENIGING – Another motion of no confidence has been formally submitted against Sedibeng District Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Lerato Maloka.

The motion, submitted by the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) on 21 January, was received by the Office of the Municipal Manager and is directed to the Speaker of Council in terms of the municipality’s Standing Rules and Orders.

The PAC cites concerns relating to governance, accountability and the exercise of executive authority as the basis for the motion.

Maloka previously survived a motion of no confidence and was reinstated as executive mayor in 2025 following a council vote.

At the time of publication, the municipality had not confirmed when the motion would be tabled for debate.
