Man shot dead outside Meyerton shack

The shooting has left the Sicelo community in shock, with neighbours reporting hearing gunshots in the early hours. Authorities say the motive is unclear, and investigations are ongoing.

MEYERTON — A 28-year-old man, Mokhosi Leuta from Lesotho, was shot and killed outside a shack in Sicelo, Meyerton, in the early hours of Saturday, 24 January.

Police say the incident occurred around 00:30 in Extension 5.

According to Meyerton police spokesperson, Constable Nompumelelo Zazini, officers responding to a murder complaint found Leuta at the door of the shack with two gunshot wounds to his stomach.

Emergency Medical Services pronounced him dead at the scene.

Two cartridges were recovered, but no motive or suspects have been identified.

Police are investigating the circumstances and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
