CAPE TOWN – The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon has announced a total prize purse of R2.6 million for its 2026 edition.

The Ultra Marathon will award R2 177 400, with winners taking home R380 000 each.
The Half Marathon prize purse is R422 600, including R50 000 for the top finishers.
Additional prizes will be given across age groups, top South African athletes, and teams.
“The Two Oceans Marathon is about pushing boundaries and inspiring excellence,” said Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC.

“The increased prize purse recognises elite athletes and strengthens the event’s international profile.”
Wade Bromfield, General Manager, added that the higher prize money is an investment in both athletes and the integrity of the race, supporting local and international competitors.
The 2026 event begins with the Trail Run on Friday 10 April, followed by the Ultra Marathon on Saturday 11 April, and the Half Marathon on Sunday 12 April.
Participants will run along the scenic coastal and mountain routes of the Cape Peninsula.
