
MIDVAAL. – The Midvaal Local Municipality has been named the overall winner at the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) Awards, receiving seven accolades for the 2024/2025 financial year.
Among the honours, Midvaal was recognised as the overall SALGA Awards winner and received awards for paying service providers within 30 days, achieving performance levels above 80%, attaining 100% on grants for service delivery, effectively implementing action plans to address prior-year audit findings, and achieving a clean audit opinion for 2024/2025.
The municipality was also named first runner-up in the Environmental Management and Climate Change category.
According to the municipality, the awards recognise Midvaal’s commitment to service delivery, sound financial management and good governance.
The municipality said the achievements reflect accountability, environmental responsibility and a commitment to implementing programmes aimed at improving residents’ quality of life.
Midvaal further credited the recognition to the collective efforts of residents, councillors and municipal officials working towards a shared vision of excellence.
Executive Mayor Ald. Peter Teixeira said the municipality remains focused on the work ahead and committed to improving the lives of residents.
