MEYERTON. The Riverstone Mall Run is back this weekend, with runners, walkers and families set to descend on the mall for the second edition of the popular community event.

The race takes place on Sunday, July 26, with the first event starting at 08:00 from Riverstone Mall.

Participants can choose between an 8km or 5km road race, while younger athletes can take part in a 500m to 1km Kids Fun Race.

A 1 500m track race also forms part of this year’s programme.

Organisers say the event caters for runners of all abilities, from experienced athletes chasing a fast time to families looking for an active morning out.

All finishers will receive a medal, finish drink and goodie bag. Entry fees start at R150.

The race will be held under the rules of Athletics Vaal Triangle (AVT), with standard Athletics South Africa regulations applying.

Last year’s inaugural event attracted close to 400 participants and was well received by the local running community, with organisers expressing the hope of establishing it as a regular fixture on the Vaal athletics calendar.

Entries can be completed online before race day.
