Riverstone Mall Run attracts hundreds on chilly winter morning
The second edition of the event delivered competitive racing and a festive atmosphere despite winter conditions.
MEYERTON – Hundreds of runners braved the winter chill on Sunday morning, July 26, to take part in the second annual Riverstone Mall Run.
Participants of all ages turned out for the popular community event.

Patrick Vilakazi of Meyerton Athletics Club claimed victory in the men’s 8km race, crossing the finish line in 27:18. Thuto Arms secured second place in 28:00, while Heinrich Kemp of Meyerton Athletics Club completed the podium in 28:48. Kemp was also the first finisher in the men’s 40 to 49 age category.
In the women’s 8km race, Anja de Bruin of Vaal Athletic Club took top honours in 32:10. Lauren Kruger of Nedbank Athletic Club finished second in 32:39, with Helené van Rooyen, also representing Nedbank Athletic Club, taking third place in 34:33.

The men’s 5km race was won by Carlos Mokheseng in 18:02. Zandry Deale finished second in 18:32, while Mthokozisi Mncwango claimed third place in 19:04.
The women’s 5km title went to Miane de Clercq, who crossed the line in 20:01. Chandere Nel finished second in 20:27, while Emma de Clercq completed the top three in 20:38.
In addition to the racing, participants had the opportunity to win a variety of prizes sponsored by businesses operating at Riverstone Mall, adding to the festive atmosphere.
