‘Blackout’ to premiere in Sasolburg at ERT

The film was shot on location at the Etienne Rousseau Theatre and Sasolburg High School in July, making the premiere a homecoming for the production.

SASOLBURG – Blackout, an independent psychological drama produced by 19-year-old local writer and director Wian Fourie, is set to premiere at the Etienne Rousseau Theatre (ERT) in Sasolburg on September 25.

“I am thrilled to share that post-production is officially complete, and we are bringing the film full circle right back to where it all began,” says Fourie.

Following its inaugural screening at ERT, Blackout will head to The Bioscope in Johannesburg and enter the film festival circuit.

About the director & production

Originally from Sasolburg and an alumnus of Sasolburg High School, Fourie is currently a second-year student at AFDA film school.

Although Blackout is an independent venture, the project brought together a vibrant team of over 24 young creatives, cast members, and extras, many of whom are fellow AFDA students.

Set entirely within the world of stage production, Blackout delves into the heavy emotional terrain of identity, performance, self-doubt, and the search for belonging.
