Anchors aweigh: The Vaal River boating season is officially open
The Vaal community joined hands with fellow South Africans in a proud display of unity.
VANDERBIJLPARK – The Vaal River transformed into a vibrant spectacle as the official opening of the boating season got underway on Heritage Day.
“What a proudly South African day! We couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather. From the hundreds of boats on the water to the incredible community spirit, everything came together beautifully,” says Rosemary Anderson, owner of Stonehaven on Vaal.
Stonehaven’s flagship barge, the Spirit of Jen, led the flotilla from start to finish.
Beyond the action on the water, the riverbanks were buzzing with hundreds of residents and visitors soaking in the festivities.
“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s opening another truly memorable occasion,” Anderson added.
“Here’s to the spirit of the Vaal, our wonderful boating community, and many more unforgettable days on the water.”
