Shack Ministries brings hope to the forgotten in eMalahleni
Members of the organisation reach out to the homeless weekly to provide them with food, clothing, and other essentials.
AGS Oasis Pastor Deon Scheepers has dedicated his life to feeding and clothing vulnerable individuals and families in eMalahleni through his Shack Ministries.
While it is often easy to show kindness to people with influence or to those with something to give back, Scheepers said he founded his ministry to reflect the Kingdom of God and to demonstrate his love for the less privileged.
“The Kingdom of God is not reflected when we only love, greet, or give to people who can give something back to us,” he said.
“We reflect the Kingdom when we give without expecting anything in return, love without conditions, and serve people who may never be able to do anything for us.”
Through the non-profit organisation, Scheepers said they reach out to people sleeping on the streets and provide them with food, clothing, and blankets, among other things.

He said they have also started a weekly feeding project for kids at a local nursery school.
“There are so many things we dream of,” he said, mentioning a night shelter as part of his wish list.
Scheepers is grateful to those who have already donated and is asking other community members and organisations who may be willing to help to also come forward.
