Kwaito legend Mandoza has died
South Africa has lost yet another legend. May his soul rest in peace.

Kwaito legend Mduduzi ‘Mandoza’ Tshabalala has passed on. Mandoza passed away today after a long battle with cancer which had reportedly spread to his brain, leading him to lose his sight completely.
News of Mandoza’s death was confirmed on Twitter by social media strategist Sthembiso Sithole.
“That moment when your are close to a situation, but you can’t report about it due to the fact that one of your close friends is a relative.

“I am tempted to tweet about it, but I have to show respect since I am in the same house. He was a legend. We enjoyed his music.

President Jacob Zuma has extended his condolences on the passing of Mandoza.
“South Africa has lost one of its pioneers whose music appealed to a cross section of our people, young and old and was known to have achieved the unique crossover culturally to be enjoyed by both black and white South Africans. It is a great loss to the nation and we wish to extend our deepest condolences to his wife Mpho, his family and hordes of fans. Mandoza will be sorely missed. May his soul rest in peace,” said President Zuma in a statement.
Earlier this month, Mandoza’s family released a statement confirming the Nkalakatha hit maker was fighting for his life after having cancer treatment last year.

“Doctors and medical staff are trying whatever they can, and we are not giving up hope for his recovery.
“Mpho and the Tshabalala family have asked all his friends and fans to pray for him, beckon the Ancestors and keep him in your thoughts during this time,” read the statement.
