Mutilated child in place of safety
The child, who had his genitals cut off, still has medical needs that are being attended to.
The Gauteng Department of Social Development has confirmed the six-year-old Boksburg boy whose genitals were severed in a gruesome attack has been placed in temporary safe care.
According to department spokesperson Motsamai Motlhaolwa, the boy still has medical needs that are being attended to.
“Details cannot be disclosed due to the nature of the case to protect the child. We can confirm that the child is in a safe and secure environment. A social worker from DSD Boksburg has been allocated to attend to the case,” said Motlhaolwa.
The boy went missing on February 28 and was later found with his genitals cut off in a ditch next to Trichardts Road in Cason.
He was taken to Tambo Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.
Police are investigating a case of attempted murder. No arrests have been made.
The case was categorised as an occult-related crime. The SAPS Occult Crime Unit has been engaged.
