Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend (August 1, 2 and 3):

Friday

Three burglaries were reported.

These took place at addresses along Cheetah Avenue, Leachville, Springs Road, Denneoord, and Bailey Road, Withok Estates.

Television sets, a sound system, computers, jewellery, clothing, shoes and kitchen appliances were stolen.

Saturday

Television sets, a video camera, jewellery and electronics were stolen during three break-ins at homes along Samuel Street, Kenleaf, Augrabies Street, Dalpark, and Waterval Avenue, Leachville.

An attempted burglary was reported at an address along Etosha Avenue, Dalpark.

The female resident returned home at about 8.30pm to find the front door and security gate damaged and a bedroom window broken.

Her neighbour claimed to have seen people with torches in the yard.

It is believed they were disturbed, as nothing was stolen.

Sunday

Two incidents took place along Lower Road, Minnebron.

A home on this street was burgled of a television set, laptop, wallet, house and car keys, while a yellow Big Boy scooter was stolen from another address.

Another yellow Big Boy scooter, which was parked in a locked garage on a property along Gardiner Avenue, was stolen.

A company situated along Main Reef Road, Anzac, was robbed of a microwave and plastic chairs.

A security guard on duty at the premises saw six men, three of whom were armed, on the property, at about 3.10am.

The guard fled when the robbers pointed the guns at him.

Two men robbed a scrap metal dealership situated along Station Road.

The business owner, who runs the dealership from his home, told the robbers his business was closed when they knocked at his front door at about 1pm.

The pair, who claimed to have scrap metal to sell, pulled out firearms and forced their way inside the house.

The owner managed to hit one of them in the face before fleeing to the bathroom and locking the door.

He emerged after five minutes to find that the men had left with his cellphone and R1 400.
