My mother lives at Tweedy Park and has been ill and I’m taking care of her, since she came out of hospital recently.
In that time the building has had several water leaks, starting on the eighth floor, running down to the ground floor, down the stairs and into the lift. As it stands, one of the lifts has been out of order since the middle of last year.
The council has been out on a few occasions to repair these leaks, and yet they continue to happen. Why?
These are elderly people living here and some can’t manage the stairs and rely on the lifts. Besides this, the floors get slippery and they could fall and injure themselves very badly. Is the council going to pay their medical bills? Not likely!
It would be nice if something was done once and for all to get this sorted out, as nobody seems to give a damn anymore.

The council commented as follows: Upon initial receipt of the complaint, contractors were sent out to attend to the matter and the repairs were affected. The second complaint on the matter was received and the problem was still the same. The contractors established that copper fittings have been stolen, and as a result the leaks are taking place.
The fittings have since been replaced and systems have been put in place to circumvent further vandalism and stealing of the fittings.
The lift is being attended to, and the issue of the leaks have been addressed.
