Bid online for a good cause

The Rare Diseases Society (RDS) has entered a charity bond team for the 94.7 Cycle challenge in order to raise awareness for their cause.

The team, aptly named Pedalling 4 Pompe, hopes to raise a minimum of R200 000 for the approximately patients represented by RDS.

The society was founded as a support group for patients diagnosed with a “rare disease”. While there are very few individual rare diseases, collectively one in 10 people has a rare disease.

The society helps find the right doctors, offers support and comfort during diagnosis (which can be prolonged), engages medical aids for reimbursements and will help with the payment of expensive treatments (in specific cases)

The team consists of just short of 200 riders each bringing in a minimum of R1 000 that they have raised in preparation for the race.

One of the main objectives is to raise awareness for an online charity auction to be held the week following the race.

A framed Springbok jersey signed by all 30 players in the 2013 Rugby Championship tournament will go under the hammer.

The auction will be hosted online on www.i-bidder.com, an online real time auction website starting at 12pm on Tuesday, November 19, and concluding at 12pm on November 21.

Ibidder has recently launched in South Africa. It offers safe, secure online bidding at auctions being held in real time.

Ibidder has been brought to SA by theauctioneer.co.za, the ultimate reference guide for all auctions nationwide.
