Hammer to fall on fleet

Park Village Auctions (PVA) is gearing up for its next big commercial vehicle auction on October 31 at 10.30am.

Instructed by various repossession managers, liquidators, trustees and executors, PVA will auction a fleet of Toyota Dyna 4-093 and 8-145, Hino 500, 300 and 17-257, Mercedes Benz Axor, Actros, Mitsubishi Fuso, MAN TGA 33.360, Nissan UD 440, Iveco, TATA 1518, Volvo FH13 and International 9800. A fleet of Hyundai, Corsa and Toyota Hilux LDVs will also be auctioned.

Trailers to be sold include SA Truck Bodies, Hendred, Afrit, Motor Trail, flat-deck link trailers, skeletal, curtain-side trailers and side-tipper trailers. A collection of earthmoving skidsteer loaders, excavators and backhoe loaders will also go under the hammer.

According to PVA’s LeRoy Augustyn, the demand for such assets is currently high.

This is seemingly in line with demand for commercial vehicles across the board as evidenced by recent numbers posted by the South African truck and bus industry.

Industry representatives say that South Africa’s truck and bus industry has shown a “surprising” upturn during 2013 with sales of new vehicles tipped to pass the 30 000 unit mark come year-end.

“The market has proven itself remarkably resilient in the face of prevailing economic conditions and the recent strike action. Whether or not this will remain the case in 2014 of course remains to be seen,” says Augustyn.
