Wood items under the hammer

Pretoria auction house Bernardi's has been appointed by the executrix in the estate of the late Prof J P Botha et al, to dispose of the assets of his Colbyn double storey residence.


Under the hammer is a workshop of quality woodworking tools and equipment and a collection of scarce South African wood species: stinkwood, yellowwood, tambotie, olienhout, kiaat and teak.

The residence contents include a Ronisch rosewood cased grand piano, Continental and French carved cupboards, “Olde Worlde” teak and oak furnishings, South African stinkwood and yellowwood dining, lounge and parlour furniture, Italian games table, Savanarola chairs, mahogany turned leg Lectron pool/library table, Victorian games table, and Gabbeh, Mir, Golden Afghan and Kandahar carpets.

South African ceramic vases and jars, porcelain and silver-plated wares, collectables, and artworks, household appliances, kitchenware, bric-a-brac, and more is also on offer.

The auction will take place onsite at 34 Amos street, Colbyn on October 5 at 10am.
