Kwesta ‘abandons’ drunken fan in Limpopo

One of Kwesta's young groupies appeared to be left to fend for herself at a hotel the rapper and his band were booked into on Saturday night.

Metro FM Music Award winner Senzo Vilakazi, popularly known as Kwesta, appeared to bring a hysterical groupie and fan to the brink of tears after she was “abandoned” by the rapper and his band at the Meropa Town Lodge Hotel in Limpopo.

The rapper, who was booked to perform at the DStv iRock Music Festival in Limpopo on Saturday, arrived at the hotel with his entourage, which included the young woman, whose name is known to The Citizen, from Katlehong, East of Johannesburg.

The fan, who appeared highly intoxicated from a mix of alcohol and marijuana, was, however, left to lick her wounds on her own in the hotel reception lobby. When asked what she was doing there, her response was that of an unfortunate groupie who had been abandoned by the friends she had travelled with, along with the rapper, all the way from the East Rand to Limpopo. The 23-year-old experienced the rejection of her friends, who were all taken up to the rooms by Kwesta’s band members.

The woman then caused trouble for hotel guests and security with loud cries about her cellphone, which she alleged was locked in the rapper’s road manager’s car. Wearing nothing but sandal pumps and a short jumpsuit, the young woman pleaded to get her phone so that she could call home.

When contacted by hotel staff, Kwesta, along with his band, denied knowing the young woman but later, one of the band members admitted to having driven with her from Voslorus, where she and two of her friends had been picked up.

The fan was later taken to seek refuge in the hotel’s back office, where she spent her night in an office chair.
