The Lo Down: Beauty besties – Dineo Moeketsi and Leigh-Anne Williams

Dineo Moeketsi and Leigh-Anne Williams are rising stars in the South African entertainment industry.

Moeketsi, a Vuzu presenter, is also a host on O-Access, and an actress while Williams is a TV presenter on the Expresso Show and a radio presenter on Good Hope FM. This week, they share their beauty tips and secrets.

What is your daily beauty regimen?

DM: My normal regimen involves daily cleansing, toning, and moisturising.
LW: I cleanse and moisturise at night and try to use a facemask twice a week. I have to wear a lot of makeup for the show so I try to go makeup-free over weekends to give my skin a break.

What’s your number one beauty tip?

DM: Give contouring a go. I’ve started to incorporate it into my makeup routine. It takes longer but it results in a much more defined look and it’s an easy way to accentuate certain features.
LW: Never go to bed wearing makeup! The hours you spend sleeping are crucial for your skin to give it a chance to ‘breathe’ so give it the space it needs.

Do you experiment with makeup trends?

DM: Yes, always. I remember loving the Amy Winehouse ‘liner flick’ and trying it myself. If I see a trend I like, I’ll give it a try and then decide if it’s something that suits me.
LW: Not really. I have found my look and I usually play that look up or down depending on the event I’m attending.

What’s a big no-no to you when it comes to beauty?

DM: A shiny face is my big no-no. It’s important to check your makeup as the day progresses and apply a bit of powder to make sure that you don’t have a greasy sheen.
LW: Shaving off your eyebrows and drawing them on … NO!

Who inspires you locally when it comes to beauty trends?

DM: Nandi Mngoma inspires all of my beauty decisions. Her beauty looks effortless and that is what we should all aim for.
LW: My local inspiration is Minni Dlamini. I love that she can go from girl-next-door to red carper glamour all while being down to earth and relatable.

Any natural beauty secrets to share with The Lo Down readers?

Both: WATER.
DM: Drink water. It’s really the best way to stay healthy and look naturally beautiful.
LW: I try to drink 2 to 3 litres a day to flush my system of toxins and help hydrate my skin.
