Former Springbok rugby player Jacques Potgieter and his wife, Angelique Gerber, have been looking all lovey-dovey in photos recently shared on social media, putting fans at ease following the cheating allegations from earlier this year.

Angelique, who has recently been acting alongside Steve Hofmeyr in the series, Brixton, apologised to her fans in July, saying: “I want to apologise for the inappropriate posts that included me and which were posted without my consent. It was deeply upsetting to me. My legal team is in the process of investigating the matter.”

This followed her husband Jacques’s claim that his personal Instagram account had been hacked. A couple of Instagram stories were shared from his account, stating that he had been cheating on his wife.

The former Springbok has since been posting photos of him and his red-head wife, while fans rarely see photos of the couple on Angelique’s account. In September, Jacques posted a selfie with Angelique, captioning it with two hearts.

A week later, he shared a photo of them sitting on an outdoor sofa, saying: “So in love with this redhead”, and adding the hashtag #hotwife.

On 2 November, Jacques shared a photo of them casually posing for the camera, saying that it “still feels like weekend vibes with this hottie”.

In a post of the couple pouting for the camera in July, fans asked why Angelique deleted all the images of her and her husband from her Instagram account, while another said: “Fake it ‘til you make it, baby.” Others said they were couple goals and such a beautiful couple.

People also reacted to the allegations, telling Huisgenoot that “it doesn’t matter how pretty your wife is. If your husband wants to jump the fence, he will. It has nothing to do with prettiness”. Another said: “They decided to make their marriage work. These days it is just too easy to move on. Marriages are hard work; it is not to just give up when things get tough.”

The celebrity couple got married in 2016 and have three children.
