Big Concerts books the big ‘Boss’

Legendary American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen will be touring South Africa for the first time ever next year.

Big Concerts have confirmed that Springsteen will be gracing our shores at the beginning of 2014 for three shows with his E Street Band.

The veteran rocker will be playing two shows at the Bellville Velodrome in Cape Town, on 28 and 29 January 2014, with only one concert organised for Johannesburg fans, who will get to see Springsteen in action at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday, 1 February.

Commenting on the tour, self-proclaimed Springsteen fan and Big Concerts CEO Attie van Wyk said: “After 24 years it’s a dream come true to promote Bruce Springsteen in South Africa. It’s definitely a personal highlight to confirm The Boss.”

With a recording career which spans more than thirty years, Bruce Spingsteen acquired his famed nickname, ‘The Boss’, during the very early days of his career in the 60s, when he was briefly part of a power trio called Earth. It’s said that the singer during this time took on the arduous task of collecting the band’s nightly pay after club gigs and making sure each band member got their fair share.
