In Sunday’s epic Formula One title showdown between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, popular South African DJ Black Coffee showed his support for the defending champion.

A support video was released by Hamilton’s team, Mercedes AMG-PETRONAS that showed celebrities across the world cheering the seven-time winning F1 champion.

Familiar faces that appeared include Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Samuel Jackson, Justine Bieber and wife Hailey Bieber, Robert De Niro, Gayle King and sports figures such as Dan Carter and Antony Joshua.

South Africans were happy to see the international DJ appear as the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is top trending on Twitter. Black Coffee also shared on his Instagram stories watching the grand prix.

Verstappen claimed pole position for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and is gunning for his first-ever F1 title. On the other hand, Hamilton is looking to become the first driver to win eight titles suppressing legend Michael Schumacher seven titles.

The last six winners in Abu Dhabi have all started from the front of the grid, with Verstappen victorious from pole last year.

Verstappen said on Saturday: “I’m incredibly happy with this. It’s what we wanted but it was not easy with Mercedes’ form.

The two drivers locked together on 369.5 points after 21 of the 22 races, the stakes could not be higher for the duelling duo.

Should the pair end up all square — (one finishes ninth, the other 10th with the fastest lap) – or fail to score any points then the title is his on the strength of his nine race wins to Hamilton’s eight.
