Royal News: Kate Middleton is called-out for not observing protocol as Prince Harry loses legal bid

Here's what has been going down in the lives of The British Royal Family lately.

The Princess of Wales caused a bit of a frenzy last week as she was spotted not performing a curtsy to King Charles during a service to mark Commonwealth Day last week.

It’s royal protocol for members of the firm to bow or curtsy to the sovereign and their spouse in recognition of their roles as the most senior members of the family. But there could be a reason for the paucity of the curtsy.

One might be that she’s still adjusting to her father-in-law’s new role according to the CNN. Another, perhaps more likely, rationale may be that members of the royal family only need to greet the monarch formally upon their first meeting that day.

While the King and Queen Consort arrived in a separate car to Prince William and Kate, it’s entirely possible they could have gathered ahead of the service and, as such, the Princess of Wales wouldn’t have been expected to curtsy again. Either way, the King appeared unperturbed and remained focused on the service – the first of his new reign.

Princess of Wales Kate Middleton has shared that she never imagined she would be part of the powerful royal family.

She said she just “fell in-love” with Prince Williams. The two met while they were both studying at St Andrews University in 2001.

Their engagement was announced in 2010, and the couple married in April 2011.

Prince Harry loses case after silently celebrating five year anniversary

Prince Harry, who has spoken at length about protecting his family from prying paparazzi, has lost a big to pay for police protection when he is in the United Kingdom.

The 38-year-old Prince Harry argued he should be allowed to personally pay for security after being stripped of taxpayer-funded protection when he and his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, stepped down as senior royals and moved to the US in 2020.

As reported in the Independent, Home Office lawyers argued it was “not appropriate” for wealthy people to “buy” security from the police. There were also concerns that such a move would “reduce the availability” of a limited pool of close protection officers.

A judge has now refused Harry permission to bring a judicial review over the decision in what would have been a second challenge relating to his security arrangements.

The legal action was among five other civil cases Harry is pursuing through the courts, including three outstanding claims relating to alleged phone hacking.

He has already been granted permission to fight the decision not to be given the “same degree” of personal protective security when visiting the UK, although a date for the hearing has not been set.

The decision of the court comes just days after the controversial royal couple celebrated their five year anniversary on Friday. Neither of the two shared any footage of themselves celebrating their special day. The couple have two children, four year-old son Archie and 23-month year-old daughter Lilibet.

King Charles warns the Queen’s late dresser not to publish book

It was only last week when Angela Kelly was holding back tears as she packed her belongings from her Windsor home. Following the coronation, King Charles gifted Kelly a cottage on Peak District according to the Daily Mail.

Kelly, who has already released two books on the late monarch, has been asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement by King Charles effectively preventing her from disclosing any further secrets about the royal family.

Reports suggest that Angela Kelly has been asked to not use the words ‘King’ and ‘Palace’ for commercial gain under the terms and conditions of the agreement owing to which she will be unable to publish a third memoir.

The reason for the move is that King Charles was reportedly concerned that an updated version of her second book, The Other Side Of The Coin: The Queen, The Dresser And The Wardrobe, disclosed intimate details.

The latest reports come after the aforementioned Daily Mail article said that it’s believed that Queen Elizabeth before she died gave Kelly ‘lieutenant’ permission for one more book she hoped would serve as a ‘pension’ for her years of loyal service.
