Tributes are continuing to pour in for TikTok star Valeria Marquez, who was shot and killed while live-streaming.
The 23-year-old beauty influencer was live-streaming from her salon, Blossom Beauty Lounge, in Jalisco, Mexico, last Tuesday when the incident occurred.
According to the Associated Press (AP), Denis Rodríguez, a spokesperson for the Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office (JSPO), said they believe Marquez was killed by hitmen.
He stated that one of the suspects asked if Marquez was in the salon.
“So it appears he didn’t know her. From that, you can deduce — without jumping to conclusions — that this was a person who was paid,” Rodríguez added.

Valeria Marquez: ‘Maybe they were going to kill me’
According to AP, a masked man, along with another man on a motorcycle, entered Marquez’s salon earlier and told a woman inside that they needed to deliver a gift to her in person.
The publication adds that Marquez was worried when she arrived at her salon and found out the men were looking for her, as she shared her fears during a TikTok livestream just moments before she was killed.
“Maybe they were going to kill me. Were they going to come and take me away, or what?” Marquez said during the livestream, as reported by AP.
Two men on a motorcycle had reportedly murdered a former congressman in the area just hours before Marquez’s death.
Fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to Marquez. Here are a few reactions from X.
