Tyla and Master KG among the winners at African Entertainment Awards in the US
Tyla received her first Grammy nomination over the weekend, which also recognised Musa Keys and Mzansi comedian Trevor Noah.

South African music sensation Tyla and Master KG were some of the Mzansi winners at the African Entertainment Awards (AEAUSA) hosted in the US over the weekend.
The Water hit-maker walked away with Best Female Artist gong, beating fellow musos such as Tems and Makhadzi. The latter didn’t walk away empty-handed, Makhadzi won the Best Collaboration for her work with Mr Brown on MaGear.
Established in 2015, the AEAUSA is a Non-Profit Organisation co-founded by Dominic Tamin a Cameroonian-born US citizen with a team of young Pan Africanists drawn from different parts of Africa and the Caribbean.
“Our Mission is to support, celebrate and uplift African Entertainment and Achievements in the Global arena. We use the entertainment awards ceremony as a platform, to unite all Africans including those in the Caribbean to showcase an Africa that is united, self-sufficient, willing, and able to evoke social change that matters most in the communities of Africans all over the world,” it avers on the AEAUSA’s website.
Master KG scooped the Music Producer of the Year award, where DJ Maphorisa was also nominated. Funny man William Last KRM won the Digital Content Creator of the Year award.

SA talent recognised
The AEAUSA took place just a day after the Grammys released their nominations list where Three new Grammy categories were introduced. The Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album and Best Pop Dance Recording are the new categories.
Tyla’s Water and Musa Keys’ feature on Davido’s Unavailable earned them nominations in the Best African Music Performance category. Unavailable was named the Best Collaboration at the recent Trace Awards hosted in Rwanda.
South African comedian Trevor Noah also received a nomination for the Grammys for his special I Wish You Would.
Sharing his excitement over the Grammy recognition on X (Twitter), Noah spoke about his love for stand-up comedy.
“This journey called life never ceases to amaze and inspire me. I love stand-up comedy because I cherish nothing more than making people feel good or bringing a smile to someone’s face,” wrote Noah.
“To be nominated for a Grammy is a blessing and honour I never expect and truly cherish with all my heart. Thank you to every single one of you who’s been in the audience for these shows, without you there would literally be no show.”

The Grammys are set to be hosted in February at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
