WATCH: In true Hip Hop style, Blxckie gives Zakes Bantwini a diamond necklace

Bantwini told patrons that the Rugby World Cup final, where South Africa takes on New Zealand will be screened at the event.

Just ahead of Zakes Bantwini’s show in Cape Town, Blxckie gave him a studded chain inscribed with Blxckie’s tag line, Yena Yedwa.

“We already spoke as much as we could speak on it. The concept is out, everyone gets the idea. It’s not a festival, it’s not a concert you know what I mean. It’s not a Zakes Bantwini ‘one man what’ no. It’s just abantu [the people], the community getting together to enjoy good music and everything else around it, whatever’s happening on that day,” said Blxckie speaking about the event happening on Saturday at the Cape Town Stadium.

Blxckie is part of a long list of artists who will perform at Abantu, a list that includes Major League DJz, Grammy Award winner Nomcebo Zikode, Mi Casa and Goldfish and other performers.

Zakes Bantwini’s Abantu event isn’t a one-man show as we’ve a number of local artists do lately, but it’s an event created with the hope of bringing different people together.
Blxckie isn’t the only artist performing at Abantu that Zakes Bantwini went to see prior the show. He also linked up with rapper K.O.

“It [the show] is important because DHL Stadium has never given a South African an opportunity to do their own show. So, this concept is for everybody. I was chatting about you in the car saying you’ve been in this game for a while,” said Bantwini speaking to K.O.

“It’s a legacy moment, I mean what can I say about this man. It’s crazy because your journey and my journey are parallel, you’re on your third prime if I’m not mistaken. It speaks to the level of commitment, dedication we have for culture,” said the rapper in response to Bantwini.

“The World Cup final game screening will take place inside the stadium for event ticket holders. The game will be screened on the stage that is hosting the concert,” a statement from Bantwini read a few days ago.

This might have brought relief to ticket buyers of the concert who also wanted to watch the Rugby World Cup final, where South Africa will take on New Zealand.
