WATCH: Oprah’s has a South African Thanksgiving with Nomzamo Mbatha

Thanksgiving content dominated Twitter on Thursday and Friday, with people posting their plates of food to celebrate the US holiday.

Nomzamo Mbtha had a taste of home at Oprah Winfrey’s house for the talk show host’s pre-Thanksgiving in the United States.

The actress posted the South African dinner she had at Oprah’s. On the menu was chakalaka, peri-peri chicken and shrimp with South African chilli, slow-cooked bobotie, samp and beans, and bunny chow.

Oprah wrote: “South African cuisine to welcome my girls home. And yes there was malva pudding for dessert.”

She also thanked chef Raymond Weber for preparing the meals.

For the dinner, Oprah was joined by her “African girls” which included some girls who attended Oprah Winfrey’s Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa and her long-time partner Stedman Graham.

South Africans love that Oprah has always kept the country close to her heart, celebrating the heritage, food and culture.

Thanksgiving content dominated Twitter on Thursday and Friday, with people posting their plates of food to celebrate the US holiday.

The traditional Us food, however, did not impress the masses, with locals joking that Oprah was the only one who looked like she had great food on the day.

Oprah has always shared a close bond with the pupils from her academy, who she calls her “daughter girls”.

The vision of the academy is to “support the development of a new generation of dynamic women leaders”.

Qualifying girls should be South African citizens or permanent residents with an average of 70% for maths and English. The household income should also be less than R30,000 per month.

One of Oprah’s “daughter girls” is Thando Dlomo. She graduated from Oprah’s academy and studies at the University of Southern California.

Dlomo is a multimedia journalist, a TV producer and a speaker. The close relationship between Oprah and Thando is evident on social media, as they cook and wine together.
