‘I Do Insure’: Zavion Kotze-Brereton launches wedding insurance company

Zavion Kotze-Bereton is no stranger to the wedding industry. Now, he’s gone one step further, launching his own wedding insurance company.

The multiple Covid-19 waves, lockdowns and restrictions saw thousands of wedding couples having to postpone their weddings over the past two years.

This inevitably led to major losses for many couples, but also for the wedding suppliers and venues that have been booked and set up to help make it a memorable occasion. Still, the unfortunate circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic have brought about some positive changes too.

The pandemic’s repercussions inspired leading wedding and floral designer and, Zavion Kotze-Brereton, to come up with a safety net for his clients, which resulted in him creating the all-new wedding insurance, I Do Insure.

“In more than a decade in the industry, I’ve seen in all go wrong: from venues liquidating the day before a reception to a guest setting a table alight – and even the event photographer having their camera stolen out of their car, with the one-off photographs disappearing along with it,” Zavion says.

According to him, his new wedding insurance venture was launched because they want couples to be able to relax and enjoy their day, safe in the knowledge that they’re covered for the worst that life can throw at them on the day as they prepare for their life together.

About the wedding insurance policies

I Do Insure comes with four wedding insurance packages based on the pillars of marriage: patience, Integrity, respect and ddoration. The packages cover couples for a variety of wedding mishaps, safeguarding what should be the most special and memorable, but also possibly the most expensive day of their lives.

The I Do Insure policies are provided by Genesis Insurance Brokers in partnership with iTOO Special Risks and underwritten by Hollard Insurance.

The packages – Patience, Integrity, Respect and Adoration – cover 11 categories of things that could go wrong at a wedding. These include cancellation, curtailment, rescheduling, attire and rings, cars and transport, supplier failure, photography and video and more.

“The cover has a specific section that caters for challenges specifically arising from Covid-19 infections, complications and losses in the direct wedding party – something that was hugely important for us to include,” says Kotze-Brereton.

“While that will be top of mind for many at the moment, there are so many other aspects of the wedding and reception that need to be covered, which people don’t even think about.”

He says the wedding industry is geared toward providing couples with a very special, once-in-a-lifetime, magical day that sends them off into their future together and that they always strive to do everything they can to make sure that the couples only have the best memories of the day.

With that in mind, Kotze-Brereton’s wedding insurance company will only help couples to feel more at ease, especially amidst uncertain times like the Covid-19 pandemic.
