The ceremony, which was originally scheduled for November 4 but was then postponed, will now take place on March 8 next year at the Durban International Convention Centre.
It was announced earlier this year that the nominees would be revealed in September, and when this didn’t happen the organisation of the event was brought into question.
Project director Sindile Xulu was delighted that the names have now been released, saying: “We are very happy to finally announce all the finalists.
“The range is wide and the list leaves no doubt that South Africa has great talent to be celebrated and honoured. It is now all systems go to the awards next year.”
Mzansi Magic soap ‘Isibaya’ bagged the most nominations at 19, including lead actress, lead actor, best soapie, make-up and set design.
The rest of the nominees for best soapie are ‘Binneland’, ‘Generations’, ‘Isidingo’ and ‘The Wild’.
